Since 1979, The World Health Organization has advocated the use of acupuncture to aid in a range of symptoms. The following is a list of disorders which have been recognized by the WHO as "having been successfully treated by acupuncture."
Musculoskeletal lower back pain, tennis elbow, knee pain, neck/shoulder pain, sciatica, arthritis, joint swelling/pain, osteoporosis, muscle strain, hip pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist strain, sporting injuries; whiplash, sprained ankles and knees, cartilage problems, tearing of muscles, torn ligaments and bruises, scar tissue
